Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp

Honoring the generous support of the Andersen Windows founder, Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp sits directly on the banks of the scenic St. Croix River, near Stillwater. Opened in 1928, this camp is a perfect spot to launch a canoe trip or plan an overnight campout. 150 foot bluffs of solid rock divide the property into two levels with 260 acres of dense forest, open fields, and unique rock formations to explore. If you’re planning a trip here, you’ll want to make sure to check out Friendship Rock and historic Good Medicine Lodge.

Five of our metro area camps have created a special event schedule for all those who are camping with us in the coming months.

Here are just some of the fun activities you can do at Fred C. Anderson Scout Camp!

Animals

Visiting our camps means that you will most likely get a chance to see some pretty cool animals in the wild! We also have some animals in our education centers and barns during our summer programs to allow all of our visitors a chance to see some animals up close!

Archery

Take up a bow and fire a few arrows toward the bullseye

Board Games

There's nothing better on a camping trip when mother nature decides to make it too hot, too cold, or sometimes rainy. Don't worry, you can spend some crazy-fun or even educational time together playing board games!

Boating

Stay upbeat and buoyant at camp in our boats! We can also outfit your adventures. Canoes and canoe trailers are available to rent to use on a river trip, go to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, or to use at another nearby lake.

Camp Store

Get yourself a camp souvenir or pick up something you may have forgotten at home.

Campfires

A toasty campfire is often the focus of any campout. It provides a place for cooking, sharing stories and doing skits all while spending time with friends and family in the great outdoors.

Canoe Rental

We can provide you with the canoes, a trailer to haul them, life jackets and paddles.

Natural Rock Climbing

If your unit has climbed on artificial or indoor structures, and has appropriate training and equipment, you may be ready to try climbing on real rock. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding activity that builds confidence, trust, fitness, and focus. Not to mention you can take some great photos!

Nature Trail

Day or night, our nature trails make your hike even more exciting.
