Meet Our Animals
Visiting our camps means that you will most likely get a chance to see some pretty cool animals in the wild! We also have some animals in our education centers and barns during our summer programs to allow all of our visitors a chance to see some animals up close!
NATIVE SPECIES
Our camp properties have a diverse population of animals that we do our best to protect and not disturb. While you are around camp you are likely to see some of the following animals:
- White Tailed Deer
- Western Painted Turtle
- Gray Treefrog
- Tiger and Blue Spotted Salamanders
- Bald Eagle
- Red Tailed Hawks
- Bull Snakes
- Porcupines
- MUCH MORE!

EDUCATION CENTERS
Our Summer Nature programs include viewing some native animal species in captivity. These animals are either donated to camp or caught from the wild. All wild animals are released every couple weeks to ensure that they are not harmed. We only capture reptile and amphibians such as turtles, frogs, salamanders, and snakes. In addition to our live animals, we have a wide variety of displays including animal pelts, bones, track molds and bird nests!
PONIES AND HORSES
Kiwanis Scout Camp has the unique and special opportunity to offer a pony riding program! Their trained staff will guide you on a trail ride and teach you the basics of riding! Too old for Cub Summer Camp but still want to spend time with horses? Check out the Horsemanship program at Tomahawk Scout Camp!
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I FIND A COOL ANIMAL AT CAMP?
We want to ensure that all campers have a chance to see our plants and animals, so we ask you to stay on the trails as much as possible and not to capture any wild animals. If you have any questions about animal identification or think that an animal is in danger - please notify the Camp Master or Ranger.
