Week-Long Day Camp


This summer, camp is coming to your neighborhood. Pop-up camps: Week-Long day camp opportunities throughout Northern Star available to all Cub Scouts (open to youth entering K-5th Grade in the fall)!  For a list of locations, please click on the Program tab.

All activities will be age appropriate and guided by our well trained and enthusiastic staff. Groups will be no larger than 10 including staff. Cub Scouts will get the opportunity to try activities such as Tie-Dye, Hiking, Sports, Knots, Scavenger Hunt, Bubbles, Survival Skills and more! This new program has been designed around CDC and MN Department of Health Guidelines for 2020. 

With multiple sessions offered at a variety of locations you are sure to find something that will fit your busy schedule! Remember to bring a lunch each day.

Hiking

Hiking at camp is a fantastic way to enjoy the environment.

This program will be taking place at multiple locations, so accommodations will vary based on location.

These are offered at a variety of locations such as our own council camps, charter partners, churches, local parks and more! Youth will primarily be outside however there will be access to shaded areas, restrooms, places to refill water, and emergency shelter in case of inclement weather.

At each location you will be greeted by one of our trained staff who will help you through the check-in process. For a list of locations, please click on the Program tab.

9:00 am Camper Drop Off and Health Screening
9:15 am - 11:30 am Morning Activities
11:30 - 12:00 pm Lunch (bring your own lunch)
12:00 pm - 3:15 pm Afternoon Activities
2:00 Snack/Rest Time
2:15 pm - Afternoon Activities Continued
3:30 pm - Camper Pickup

During the day, participants will be divided into small groups with a maximum of 10. Groups will be divided based on age. Exact schedule varies by location.

Who Can Attend

Pop Up Cub Summer Day Camp is available to ALL Cub Scout age youth (entering Kindergarten - 5th grade in the fall)

Do Parents have to attend?

Due to state guidelines, parents are no longer invited to stay with their child throughout the day. Trained Staff will provide leadership and supervision for all youth participants.

How Much Does it Cost?

2020 Fees

$185 for all Cub Scout aged youth.

Is There Financial Aid Available

Yes! We think that every Scout should have an opportunity to attend Summer Camp and we do not want cost to hold anyone back from this experience. If you are in need, please complete the Campership Form to receive up to 50% of the youth cost covered.

When is Pop Up Cub Summer Day Camp?

Sessions will be offered starting June 22 and running until August 28. See the Register tab for this years dates and locations! 

What Should I Bring?

We recommend that each youth participant brings a back pack each day with the following items

  • Completed Health History Form – parts A + B (part C with the doctor signature is NOT required for this program) 
  • Lunch
  • Snack
  • White T-Shirt for Tye-Die 
  • Face Mask – if your child can safely wear a mask, we recommend bringing one 
  • Water bottle  
  • Spray Sun screen – please apply prior to arrival
  • Bug spray  
  • Medications **please note these on your health history form and inform staff at drop off** 
  • Rain Jacket 
  • Close toe tennis shoes 
  • Swim Suit (Base Camp & Phillippo Scout Reservation locations only) 
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Optional Items – Cub Scout Handbook, hat, sunglasses

Every day, participants should have closed toed shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. They will be spending a majority of the day outdoors so it is important that they are dressed properly.

Daily Health Screening

As part of the daily health screening, the parent or guardian will report their child’s daily temperature. Please complete this measurement at home and report it upon arrival.  You will be asked a standard series of questions upon arrival each day. Responses recorded will be private and kept secure. 

Food Service

Please bring a bag lunch each day. For health and safety reasons, camp will not be providing lunches.

Our Staff

All pop up day camp staff are specially trained for this program and over the age of 18. All sites will be supervised by at least one staff member 21+.

Cancellations and Refunds

Full payment is required at the time of registration. No partial or prorated fees will be issued for partial camp attendance/missed days. In the unfortunate circumstance that camps are forced to close this summer, families will be given a choice to credit all fees paid toward a future reservation or receive a full refund.  We want to ensure that all families feel safe and comfortable sending their children to camp this summer. If a family decides to no longer attend camp due to health risk, we will refund all fees paid if the request is received by our office at least one week in advance of the start of their camp session. Requests outside of this timeframe will be evaluated individually.
