Camp Highlights

  • Indoor Housing with internet and air conditioning
  • 30 foot tall waterslide and 90 feet of slip and slide

Sleeping Accommodations

Campsite assignments are made by Pack number. We do our best to keep entire packs together in the same campsite - exceptions might be made if a Pack is larger than 40 people. You will be contacted a week prior to your scheduled date at camp, you can inform them of any special requests at that time.

Indoor Housing

Capacity: 40 People

Tonkawa Lodge is located at the center of camp and provides a very comfortable sleeping option for our campers. This building includes showers, restrooms, internet access, and 12 seperate bunk areas.

Nylon Tent

Classic Scout tents are available for check out at no additional charge. These tents are fully bug proof and waterproof. Each tent can sleep 2-4 people.

Bring your own tent

There is plenty of space in each campsite for campers to set-up their own tents.


Indoor Restrooms and Showers

Tonkawa Lodge serves as the main shower and restroom facility for the entire camp. A single indoor restroom is also available in the nature building.

Outdoor Latrines

Latrines and porta pots are located throughout camp - you won't be able to go far without seeing one! They are in all program areas that don't have restroom access and in the campsite area. Latrines are stocked with toillet paper and a hand washing station.

Dining Hall

All of your meals will be served cafeteria style in the dining hall. Due to large numbers of participants we may divide everyone into two groups for lunch and dinner. These groups are assigned by rank.


Here is a snap shot of what you can expect on the first night of camp! There will not be a meal served on the first night so please eat before coming to camp. Note - Stearns does not hold swim checks on Friday night, instead we will do swim checks during your program rotation.

6:00 pm

  • Gates open - you will not be able to check-in prior to this time
  • You will be directed to the main parking area. A staff member will greet you and direct you to check-in.
  • Bring your health form and shooting sports waiver to check - in.
  • After check-in you will be directed to your campsite. A staff member will be available to help you check out a tent and get set-up.

8:00 pm

  • Your campsite commissioner will meet you in your campsite to review emergency procedures and take you on a tour of camp.

8:45 pm

  • Opening Campfire Program

10:00 pm

  • Lights Out! Get some rest before your first full day at camp!

Den Assignments (Activity Rotation Groups)

Scouts are divided into groups based on rank for program rotations on Saturday and Sunday. You will be divided into your dens on Saturday morning at the Flag Ceremony.

To help speed up this process - please enter the rank for each Scout on the online registration. You should enter the rank that each scout will be in the Fall (example: if they are a Tiger now, they will register as a Wolf for Summer Camp).

Siblings will be assigned to a den that matches their age group. If you would prefer them to stay together with their Cub Scout, please notify the staff at check-in.

Webelos Outpost

Scouts that are entering 4th grade in the fall have the opportunity to stay at Camp an extra night and participate in Webelos Outpost! This prograkm is designed to show new Webelos Scouts what Scouts BSA Camp will be like. Scouts will canoe to a campsite at the other end of camp, set up their own tents, cook dinner over the fire and participate in some special activities:

  • Dutch Oven Cooking
  • Conservation Project
  • Tomahawk Throwing
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Additional Adventure Requirments for Cast Iron Chef and Cast Away!


$35 per participant (youth and adult)

Who can go?

Webelos Scouts (entering 4th grade in the fall) and their adult partner.

What time will outpost be done?

You will return to the main part of camp by 11 am on Monday - Lunch is not provided Monday afternoon.

How do I register for outpost?

When you complete the online registration for Cub Scout Summer Camp there will be a drop down option for "Webelos attending Outpost" and "Adult attending Outpost". Select these options to be added to the program. It's as easy as that! Make sure to register for Outpost right away because space is limited. If the outpost session is full, please still register for the weekend and you will be added to a waitlist.

From St. Paul: Head West on Interstate 94. Take exit 178 at Clearwater. Turn left on county road 24 and follow signs to camp.
